1. Campus environment
Storrs
Home to 3,000+ international students, UConn’s Storrs main campus is a stunning location, with lots of green spaces, trees and natural scenery. At the same time, it’s less than two hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. You’ll experience a welcoming, traditional American campus and be within easy reach of two exciting major cities — the best of both worlds!
As a Tier 1 research university, the highest classification in the USA, it’s no surprise that UConn boasts some excellent academic facilities on its Storrs main campus. Its Center for Open Research Resources and Equipment (COR²E), for example, hosts a wide range of research centers, focusing on areas like molecular biology, engineering, agriculture, nursing, and so much more!

Stamford
At UConn’s Stamford campus, you’ll be in the heart of an energetic urban environment. Set in a modern downtown location, Stamford is an ideal blend of exciting city life and the welcoming feel of a smaller university. Be part of a close-knit student community with all the benefits of a city right on your doorstep!
And just like Storrs, there are also some fantastic facilities here. From an Advanced Computing (Alien) Lab and various collaborative study spaces, to hands-on research in areas like cybersecurity and data analytics, Stamford’s campus offers a range of excellent resources to support your studies.
Whether you choose Storrs or Stamford, you’ll always be in an incredibly safe environment. Not only is Connecticut the #5 safest state in the US (U.S. News & World Report 2025), UConn also has dedicated police forces on both campuses, operating 24 hours a day, to ensure you feel secure at all times.
2. Programs and career prospects
Storrs
At Storrs, you can earn 115+ bachelor’s degrees across nine schools. With subject areas varying from computer science and digital media to art and anthropology, you’re bound to find a program that suits you!

Stamford
While Storrs offers all kinds of degrees, Stamford has a strong focus on specialized programs — many of which are STEM-designated. This means that you can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) and work in the USA for up the three years after graduation!
The degrees here match the shifting demands of today’s job market and prepare students for entering in-demand industries. Some of these include:
- BS Computer Science
- MS Business Analytics and Project Management
- MS Financial and Enterprise Risk Management
Through Stamford’s innovative programs in areas like business, finance, marketing, and computer science, you’ll move into a high-growth business sector with exciting career paths. The teaching is forward-thinking and hands-on, with experiential learning opportunities such as internships, consulting projects, alumni mentors, and networking events.
On top of that, Stamford is packed with many top companies, including Deloitte, KPMG, and NBC Sports Group. The city is a major hub for financial services, hedge funds, and high-tech manufacturing, and is less than an hour to New York City by train. In other words, it’s an incredible place to launch your career!
