  • Anne Zielinski-Old (USA)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned a BA in Fashion and Design in 1973.

    Lifetime achievements

    Artist and designer focusing on fashion dolls. Zielinski-Old worked for Mattel Inc. in California between 1997-1998 as an Art Director for Barbie Collectibles. Some of her notable clients have included Harrods of Knightsbridge, Fortnum and Mason, Burberrys, Macy’s, The Sunday Times, Vogue and Cosmopolitan Magazine.

  • Barbara Hulanicki (Poland)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned a BA in Fashion Illustration at Brighton School of Art, now the University of Brighton, in 1956.

    Lifetime achievements

    Founder of the fashion label Biba. Hulanicki has designed wallpaper for the retail chains Habitat and Graham & Brown. She also launched a fashion and home range in India.

  • Carmen Nibigira (Nigeria)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned a BA in International Travel Management in 2005.

    Lifetime achievements

    Regional Co-ordinator for the East African Tourism Platform. She has been instrumental in the opening of the Akilah Institute for Women in Burundi’s capital, Bujumbura. She is quoted as saying “I believed in the need to equip local women with core skills for the country’s changing economy, shaping them into leaders within their own communities as well as in the local, regional and international job markets.”

  • Cliff Wright (UK)

    Graduated from the University of Birmingham

    Earned a BA in Illustration in 1986.

    Lifetime achievements

    A renowned illustrator who specialises in illustrations of animals and children’s books. His most notable works include illustrations in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, as well as the classic novel The Wind in the Willows.

  • Dato Ir. Abdul Rahim Abu Bakar (Malaysia)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned a BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1969.

    Lifetime achievements

    Former Vice-President of Petronas from 1999 to 2002. He is currently the Chairman of UEM Builders and serves on the board of TIME dotcom, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia, Scomi Engineering, Global Maritime Ventures and BI Credit & Leasing.

  • Dr Hong Lu OBE (China)

    Graduated

    With a degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

    Lifetime achievements

    Deputy Director at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) Confucius Institute for Business. She has presented her research at international TESOL conferences across China, as well as in New York, Vancouver and London.

  • Ragheb Aga (Kenya)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned a BSC in Sport and Exercise Science in 2006.

    Lifetime achievements

    An international cricketer, Aga played county cricket for Sussex in England from 2008 to 2010. In 2013 Aga was the first batsman to score a T20I half-century when batting at number 8 (or lower), this record was held until 2018.

  • Renata Yumi Shimabukuro (Brazil)

    Graduated from the University of Brighton

    Earned an MSC in Digital Television Management and Production in 2008.

    Lifetime achievements

    Communication and Marketing Manager at TV Cultura, a Brazilian television network. Shimabukuro has also written research papers and articles which have gone on to be published in industry recognised publications. She was notably a Juror of the 2016 International Emmy Awards in the semi-final of the Kids category.
