Get creative: take an Animation degree at Bournemouth University

If you’d like to study a degree in Animation, there’s no better place for you than Bournemouth University (BU). Based on England’s sunny southern coast, BU is home to the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), one of the UK’s premier computer animation and visual effects schools.

Each year, students at the NCCA make use of cutting-edge facilities and resources to learn how to apply their creativity to computer animation. Mixing visual artistry with technical and computer skills, the school prepares students for industries such as film, video games and virtual reality.

The NCCA’s student showreels demonstrate just how talented BU’s students are, and the amazing work they produce on the animation course. Just take a look…

Wow! It’s not surprising that an Animation degree from Bournemouth University can really help you pursue a successful career. You’ll graduate from BU with an impressive portfolio of work, and a unique, technical set of skills that are in high demand.

BU also benefits from strong links with the creative industries, and numerous world-famous companies. This is largely thanks to the sheer number of NCCA graduates who have gone on to work on films, games or in television.

In fact, the NCCA is extremely proud of its tradition of alumni success at the Oscars. Almost every year, dozens of BU graduates can claim to have worked on an Oscar-nominated film. At the 90th Academy Awards in 2018, BU graduates were involved in the production of all 5 films nominated in the Visual Effects category!

Some of the famous films such NCCA alumni have worked on include The Avengers, Blade Runner 2049, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Dunkirk, War for the Planet of the Apes, Gravity, Avatar, The Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 and more.

About the National Centre for Computer Animation

The NCCA is often cited as the best place in the UK to study Computer Animation, and the incredible success of its graduates certainly backs up that claim. The school owes a lot of its success to the many years of experience it represents: it’s been teaching students about computer animation and design since 1989!

Since then, the NCCA has constantly evolved with the fast-moving world of visual effects. It has seen incredible changes in computer animation, as advances in technology and design have completely reshaped film, television and video games. Its teachers promote science in service to the arts, and have led the way in pioneering how animation is taught.

With Kaplan Pathways, you can gain access to a 3D Computer Animation MA or a Computer Animation and Visual Effects MSc at the NCCA by taking a pathway course. It’s the ideal way to prepare for an Animation degree.

Outside of the NCCA, there are other related degrees to choose from at BU, including
