What can I study with my grades? Discover degree matches in seconds

Kaplan’s free, AI-powered degree matching tool helps you discover degrees and preparation routes based on your grades, subject interests and preferred destination. Whether you‘re researching independently or with an education agent, it gives you a starting point for exploring your study options.

The question of what you can study with your grades may sound simple, but it can take a lot of time and effort to find the answer. Exploring and comparing universities, pathways and degrees to find your perfect match is not always straightforward.

That’s why we’ve created a tool to make discovery easier. It does some of the heavy lifting, helping you identify suitable pathways and degrees more quickly and confidently. Then, you can move on to detailed research and application planning in Degree Finder, whether you are an aspiring undergraduate or postgraduate student.

Find degrees based on your grades

You may already know your grades, preferred subjects and dream destinations — but that doesn’t mean you know where to begin your research or where you might get offers to study.

Kaplan’s AI-powered tool helps simplify things by starting with you, rather than a university or degree. It helps you discover potential degrees and pathways based on your profile.

Who is the degree-matching tool for?

The tool may be particularly useful if you:

  • Know your final or predicted grades, but aren’t sure exactly what you can study and where
  • Want to explore degrees across multiple universities with ease
  • Need help understanding where your qualifications and grades may meet entry requirements, especially if they’re not as high as anticipated
  • Would like to shortlist options before speaking with an agent or advisor
  • Are exploring your options and wondering what your next steps could be

How does this tool work?

The tool makes discovering your study options simpler.

You’ll be asked to provide information such as your:

  • Qualification country
  • Qualifications
  • Final or predicted grades
  • Preferred study destination
  • Subject interests
  • University preferences

The tool then uses AI to help identify potential matches from the study options available within our Degree Finder.

Results are grouped into different match categories:

Green matches: These are degrees and pathways where your grades appear to meet published requirements.

Amber matches: These are degrees and pathways where your profile may be suitable, but additional checks are needed. For example, a course may require specific grades in particular subjects, or your grades may be very close to a published threshold.

Worth exploring: These are degrees and pathways with subject matches that may still be worth considering, even when your grades are below published requirements. This helps ensure potentially suitable opportunities aren’t overlooked too early in decision-making.

What is a degree match example?

Every student’s situation is different, which is why the tool can help you explore your options in a range of circumstances. For example, if:

  • Your grades are lower than expected: discover what options could still be open to you.
  • Your grades are higher than expected: explore whether you could expand your choices.
  • You meet the overall grade requirements, but need to check if you meet individual ones: see options that require specific grades in certain subjects, so you can check that you meet all criteria.
  • You‘re close to meeting the required grades: discover options that could still be worth exploring.
  • You have specific preferences: explore options such as degrees with a year in industry, or pathways available digitally or on campus.

Whatever your situation, the degree matching tool can help you discover suitable options.

How does this tool differ from Degree Finder?

The degree matching tool helps you discover potential study options, while Degree Finder lets you explore specific degrees and study routes in more detail.

Find options that suit you

Use the degree matching tool if you:
  • Know your actual or likely qualifications and grades
  • Are exploring options broadly, such as degrees across a country
  • Want help identifying programmes within a wide subject area

  • Want to research a particular university in detail

Is the data and AI matching reliable?

We’ve worked closely with admissions specialists, student advisors and education agents during development and testing of this tool. This ensured that the right data goes in, and that it is interpreted correctly.

The tool uses information from Degree Finder alone for interpretation of your qualifications and grades, and it has been tested with a wide range of student scenarios.

This means the tool uses the same degree, course and entry requirement data already used by students, agents and advisors when researching study options. It’s updated at the same time as we launch new courses.

Nonetheless, we are treating this tool as a beta, so that we can learn from users and improve it based on feedback.

We’re interested in understanding:

  • Types of searches users perform
  • Which results are most useful
  • Where users need additional guidance
  • How we can improve the matching experience
  • Data we can add to Degree Finder, to improve both tools

How can I give feedback?

We encourage users to provide feedback, so we can continue to improve our data and how the tool works for you.
