UK international student insurance

Why do I need insurance?

Insurance gives you financial protection in case of medical emergencies, accidents or unforeseen problems when travelling. You will need comprehensive cover before you begin your trip abroad to study with Kaplan.

We want to make sure you’re covered when studying abroad. That’s why you must have suitable insurance in place for the full period of your course with us in the UK.*

What insurance do I need?

To study in the UK with Kaplan, any insurance you arrange must provide cover for the full duration of your studies in the UK and include:

EduTravel: UK student insurance offered by Kaplan International Pathways

We offer all students on UK courses EduTravel, a comprehensive insurance policy designed specifically for international students. EduTravel is a combined travel, health and academic insurance policy, designed to give you comprehensive cover, as well as added peace of mind.

EduTravel is provided in conjunction with leading UK insurance provider Howden, which has been insuring students for over 50 years. Kaplan is an appointed representative of Howden, and Edutravel is underwritten by Zurich Insurance Ltd., one of the largest insurers in the world.

To make it easier for you, if you decide to take the insurance, we will automatically add EduTravel to your course fees. If you’d like to use a different insurance provider, just show us proof that you have suitable cover when you accept your offer, and then we’ll be able to confirm your place.

How much does EduTravel cost?

Edutravel insurance is available in three different policy lengths, based on the duration of your studies with Kaplan. The premium varies by duration:

It is important that you are covered for the full duration of your studies with us, so you will only be able to choose the policy that corresponds to your course length. For example if your course is 10 months your premium will be £565.

What protection is included in EduTravel?

  • Cancellation or curtailment of your course due to you suffering an illness or accident

  • Loss of property including cash, luggage, tickets and passport

  • Medical expenses not covered by the National Health Service in the UK

  • Legal expenses incurred

  • Cover for over 90 sports and activities

  • Circle with a checkmark in the centre

Cover for leisure trips within Europe

Your EduTravel policy will give you cover while you are staying in the UK, as well as on direct trips to and from your home country at the beginning and end of each academic term. You’ll also be covered on trips abroad that are a part of your course, and during leisure trips in Europe lasting up to 21 days in total.

Please note that Edutravel may not cover certain conditions, so please read the full policy carefully before deciding if it’s right for you. If you would prefer to receive a paper copy of the policy wording, would like a summary of EduTravel in another language, or if you have any other questions, please contact us.
