What is University Alliance?

If you’re thinking about studying in the UK, you may have heard of the Russell Group of universities. However, that isn’t the only partnership of universities in the UK. Another example is University Alliance. It has achieved some big things in the 15 years since it was founded — here’s everything you need to know.

What is University Alliance?

Founded in 2006, University Alliance is a group of 17 ‘business-engaged’ universities, which have links to over 16,000 companies. These careers-focused institutions teach you employability skills and prepare you for the world of work. This means they’re a great choice if you’re already thinking about life after university.

University Alliance’s members include many innovative ‘new’ universities. Their focus is on research that solves real-world problems, so you’ll get a great education while also making a positive impact on the wider community.

Great career preparation

Studying at an Alliance university is great preparation for your future career. In fact, 39% of all UK sandwich degrees, which are degrees that feature a year-long work placement before your final year, are delivered by University Alliance members.

Also, 43% of their degrees are accredited by professional bodies, so you can gain vital industry qualifications.

Degrees with work experience and industry accreditation can really give your CV a boost. No wonder an impressive 94% of Alliance university graduates are in work or further education within 6 months!

You’ll also benefit from the excellent research carried out by University Alliance institutions. Between them, they employ more than 20% of research staff in the UK.

According to the Research Excellence Framework, they also account for more than one fifth of teams conducting research rated as world-leading in the fields of Art and Design, General Engineering and Health.

University Alliance also has a partnership with the Australian Technology Network of universities. This means that by studying at an Alliance university, you’ll be joining a huge international network of students!
