The Bristol experience

Bristol’s fascinating history and vibrant culture have given it a unique, artistic and forward-thinking character. This explains why the city has been named ‘European Region of the Future’ by the Financial Times, as well as Britain’s most musical city by the Performing Rights Society.

Amazing art

Walking around Bristol, you can find all kinds of original and beautiful art. You will be struck by the dramatic street art and colourful architecture. The city is home to globally renowned street artist, Banksy, and many of his greatest works. Bristol also hosts Europe’s largest street art festival.

Something for everyone

Whatever your interests are, Bristol has something for you. Watch a performance at the Bristol Old Vic, one of the UK’s oldest working theatres, or explore some of Bristol’s many outstanding museums and art galleries. At the trendy waterfront docks you can experience stylish bars, live music, comedy clubs, restaurants and much more.

Birthplace of modern engineering

The remarkable designs of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, considered the father of modern engineering, can be seen all over Bristol. From the ss Great Britain – the world’s first ocean-going iron ship – to the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, Brunel had a lasting impact on the city.

I really like living in Bristol. It's quite a big city and it has great weather. There are also lots of festivals here – the hot air balloon festival was really fantastic!

I’m currently living near Gloucester Road in Bristol, which is a great location, full of local and independent businesses, shops and cafés and has something for everyone. It is really lively and everyone is really friendly!
