Study Health Sciences in the UK

Are you interested in studying Health Sciences at university, but not quite sure what it involves?

Health Sciences is a wide subject area that includes many different degrees, leading to varied career options across the healthcare sector.

As a student of Health Sciences, you’ll learn about how to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical conditions, and focus on how to improve health in general. Medicine is probably the best known Health Sciences degree, but there are lots of other options!

For example, you might want to study Physiotherapy so you can help people to recover from illness or injury.

Alternatively, you might want to study Occupational Therapy and learn how to support people with physical or mental difficulties, or help people with long-term illnesses get back to work.

There are all kinds of aspects of healthcare to be interested in. With Kaplan, you can gain entry to a degree in this subject at a number of UK universities.

Brighton and Sussex Medical School

At the University of Brighton International College, international students can take advantage of an exciting new route to a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (or BMBS for short) degree at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. This is possible through the Foundation Certificate in Science (Life Sciences pathway).

Ranked 8th in the UK for Medicine (Guardian University Guide 2023), Brighton and Sussex Medical School is run jointly by the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex.

If you’d like to study the BMBS at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, you’ll need to sit the BioMedical Admissions test (BMAT) when you arrive in Brighton to start your Foundation Certificate.

The test has no pass or fail mark, but your score may be considered alongside the result of your interview with the university, if you attend one.

If you successfully complete the Foundation Certificate in Science, following the Life Sciences pathway, you are guaranteed an interview at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

This interview is a normal part of the application process for a medical degree at the School, and if you’re successful, you’ll be able to enrol on the BMBS degree.
