University of Brighton: fantastic facilities

13 Sep 2018 - Victoria S Williams

Located on England's sunny south coast, Brighton is one of the UK's top seaside resorts. And with its pretty pebble beaches, amusement-packed pier and many shops, bars and restaurants, it's not hard to see why!

However, Brighton has so much more to offer you — it's also home to the University of Brighton! At this diverse university, you could join students and staff from more than 150 countries around the world. Brighton also ranks in the top 20 in the UK for teaching effectiveness (Guardian University Guide 2019), so you can be sure you'll get an excellent education. Plus, the University has recently invested in some fantastic facilities, so there's never been a better time to study here!

The facilities you need

The University of Brighton has invested £100 million in brand new facilities over the last 10 years, and it definitely shows. There are more than 1,400 computers, and the libraries house an impressive 600,000 books, journals and audio-visual materials!

You'll also have access to the famous Design Archives, an internationally important research centre focusing on design around the world. Here you can explore 22 fascinating collections, covering everything from fashion to British pop culture and more! Lots of the Design Archives' resources are online, too: it has an interactive document library and even a Flickr account!

There are studios, exhibition spaces and specialist equipment for students of Art, Media and Architecture. Engineering students will enjoy access to the Advanced Engineering Building, as well as wind turbines and even a flight simulator!

With everything from high-tech science labs to fully-equipped music studios, you really will have everything you need to succeed.

Investing in your career

Brighton is a career-focused university, with an impressive 92.6% of its graduates in employment or further study within 6 months (HESA 2016-17). This great record on employment is partly thanks to the University's investment priorities. All of its facilities are industry standard, and designed to give you realistic, hands-on experience.

The University's biomechanics lab and hypoxic chambers are both accredited by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). Fashion and textiles students can practise on industrial looms. Pharmacy students also work in a real-world environment at the clinical skills lab, and students even treat real NHS patients at the University's own podiatry clinic!

Modern and comfortable accommodation

The University has many halls of residence where you can stay in a shared flat or a studio.

Plus, Kaplan are currently building a brand new residence close to the on-campus University of Brighton International College, giving you another fantastic accommodation option that you can be sure is modern, comfortable and secure.
