We love to hear success stories from Kaplan students. So we were delighted to learn that Qinlin Wang, a former Liverpool International College (LIC) student, was awarded the Student of the Year prize for Year 1 Business Economics at the University of Liverpool.

Qinlin, from China, is studying an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics at Liverpool, and the ‘Student of the Year’ award recognises her hard work and achievements during her first year.

Qinlin Wang, Student of the Year

Qinlin chose to study at the University of Liverpool Management School because of its international reputation as a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. She knew she would receive a great education at Liverpool!

Before studying at the Management School, Qinlin spent 1 year studying a Foundation Certificate at Liverpool International College, and believes this course helped her find her path. We caught up with Qinlin to talk about her studies:

“I’ve always wanted to study in the UK and the University’s reputation and great academic environment was a big deciding factor for me… The courses LIC provided developed my interests in both Economics and Business. Therefore, instead of choosing one or the other, I chose to study BA Business Economics.”

We’re happy to see that Qinlin is thriving and following her dream. She hopes to find a career in operations research analysis so that she can use the analytical skills she’s developed throughout her studies.

When asked if she had any advice for someone thinking of studying at the Management School, Qinlin said:

“The Management School is definitely a great choice for Business students. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes at first; take advice and follow suggestions from your tutors as this will give you the best idea of what to do next. The University of Liverpool Management School also provides many opportunities to help you develop your study skills and employability.”

Liverpool, UK

The city of Liverpool itself has also played a big role in Qinlin’s study experience, and she has really enjoyed exploring this beautiful city, meeting new people and becoming a more independent person.
