Essex is a true innovator among UK universities. In fact, it was founded in the 1960s to challenge the dominance of the traditional, elite ‘red brick’ universities. It has been extremely influential since then, and is a highly regarded institution.

It’s also an incredibly welcoming place for international students, and is ranked in the top 15 in England for student satisfaction (National Student Survey 2017). It leads the way for international outlook, being ranked 2nd in the UK and top 20 worldwide (Times Higher Education 2018).
